Description of the job:
After completing the 8-week academy, Public Safety Aides will be ready to work with sworn police officers to handle non-emergency calls for service, obtain incident reports, investigate non-reportable accidents, parking violations, vehicle tows, special events, traffic direction, evidence recovery, crossing guard details, and more.

24 hours, 7 days a week availability. 40-hour work week

Norfolk Police Officers receive 96 hours of Annual Leave, 96 hours of Sick Leave, 1 day of Birthday Leave, 1 day of Diversity Leave, holiday pay and leave: 13 holidays per year. 2 Wellness Days of leave.
Active duty / Reserve duty personnel receive 15 days of Military Leave per year.
- Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be 18 years of age at the time of application.
- Valid Driver’s license
- Must successfully pass all entry level testing and assessments.
